Blood Clots
• Blood clots are semi-solid masses of blood cells and substances that form in blood vessels.
• They protect against excessive bleeding from cuts.
• Development of blood clots can occur due to immobility or medical conditions.
• Types include deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, stroke, heart attack, and chest pain.
• Risk factors include age, pregnancy, obesity, smoking, idleness, birth control pills, and hormone therapy.
If you suspect you have a blood clot, you should seek medical attention at a hospital immediately. Some people have bleeding disorders which are usually hereditary and these should be managed by your doctor.
